Social Responsibility

Aids Awareness Campaign
Gandhiji was a person who, in several respects, was ahead of his time.. His view of the ownership of capital was one of trusteeship, motivated by the belief that essentially society was providing capitalists with an opportunity to manage resources that should be really seen as a form of trusteeship on behalf of the society in general. Today we are perhaps coming round full circle in emphasising this concept through an articulation of the principle of social responsibility of business and industry.

While the interests of shareholders and the actions of any business enterprise have to be governed by the laws of economics, in reality the operations of the enterprise need to be driven by a much larger set of objectives that are today being defined under the term 'Corporate Social Responsibility'.

At BNWCCC, we have planned our CSR based on Community Healthcare Programme for women and children offering Free Clinics, Free Health Check Up Camps for preventive health check ups and free surgical cases for underprivileged children.

Our vision is to significantly contribute to quality universal healthcare to a more humane and equitable society. We have always felt that quality healthcare needs to be percolated to the grass root level and so we have designed our activities to extensively cover these sections of the population. We deliver both preventive and curative services for all ages. We have just began our activities and we feel that there is a lot to be done. If each and every organisation makes its own contribution, then we can all look forward to a better world tomorrow.

We run a Free Clinic at Tollygunge in association with Sonata Foundation. This clinic has been the dream of our Chairman, Shri V.K. Neotia, BNWCCC runs this clinic from Monday to Saturday providing gynaecological, paediatric and homeopathy services. We have appointed doctors on specified days when the respective services could be availed. We have made a very humble beginning with this clinic. At present we are examining an average of 450-500 patients per month. Medicines to all patients are given free of cost.

At BNWCCC we have a policy to do free surgical cases for children. These surgeries are done free of cost and the hospital and the concerned doctor does not charge anything. There is a committee within the hospital, which studies such requests and thereafter makes all the necessary arrangements from hospitalisation to the discharge of the patient.

So far we have mainly catered to children within the age group of 3 to 12 years with problems as diverse as repair of left diaphragmatic hernia, relapsed Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, Chronic Itussusception with malnutrition thalassemia, cleft palate and so on.
