Speech therapy & language stimulation brings happiness to a three and a half year old baby girl at NEW TOWN unit

Baby daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Dutta was brought to Outdoor Patient Department at Bhagirathi Neotia Woman and Child Care Centre, New Town (BNWCCC NT) with complaints of difficulty in speaking. Mr. Sujon Ghosh (Consultant, Audiology and Speech Language Pathology, BNWCCC NT) consulted the baby girl. He initially started audiological hearing related and speech language assessments. All the hearing evaluations were fine. However, the girl went through a speech and language evaluation where it was found that her speech and language was delayed because of inadequate language stimulation at home and excessive screen time.

However, Mr. Ghosh started many sessions, activities and planning related to Speech therapy and monitored the girl carefully for six months. Her parents were also asked to train and stimulate their child and also encourage her response. Finally, the girl can speak full sentences now on a regular basis. This case highlights the successful management of a speech and language therapy and the commitment of the medical team to providing high-quality care for their patients.
